Capital Campaign Update

We are thrilled to report that The Salvation Army Capital Campaign for Galveston County has received gifts/pledges that total $3,405,920. Just this week, we received $115,000 in gifts and pledges. Your generosity has put us within striking distance of closing out and propelling us into construction. Some capital campaigns donations are made in the form of challenge grants. These grants require that the campaign be completed by a given date. We must raise the funds required to finish the campaign, approximately $727,705, by August 23rd in order to meet the requirements of a $500,000 challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation.

We are working hard to meet this challenge, and we want to extend to you an invitation to add to your gift or on-going pledge to help us cross the finish line! You can help us meet the challenge requirement by making a pledge that can be paid over the next three years. This can be a new pledge or can be added to an existing payment plan. Your total pledge counts toward the challenge as soon as we receive your signed pledge form, so please don’t delay.

We have entered the preliminary design phase of the new Moody Family Corps Community Center. Based on drawings and cost estimates from the architect, we have secured nearly $340,000 in commitments for in-kind donations from contractors. If we meet this current challenge, we hope to keep our original schedule and begin construction by the end of 2017.

It has been challenging to complete our campaign, but all worthwhile endeavors take resiliency, perseverance and grit. You have already made a tremendous impact on our community through your support of this campaign, and we are forever grateful! You will be so very proud of your new community center and the lives that will change because of your generosity.
